hey all i am just getting my frist jeep and i have been looking at the edmonton site as well but i am unable to get loged in there so i wanted to know what mods are a must have before even trying to go off roading with a jeep club.
i am getting my jeep in a week and i am getting a 4.5" lift installed before i even picked it up is why i had to wait. it well have 31" tire A/T an 2 tow hooks on the front and a changeable towe package on the back.
from what i have seen and read things i would need are:
CB nice big mud tires (hehe) and some cheaper rims for them towe slings winch(??lb) skid plates(think the sahara comes with this) free time to go off roading

Usually the only essentials are recovery points (i.e. tow hooks) front and rear, mud tires, and a full size spare.
Some clubs have additional requirements such as cb radios, first aid kits, fire extinguishers etc......but it really depends.
For your jeep, if it were me i would get some better rubber, but other than that you should be good to go. With the lack of mud around you'd likely be fine with the stock tires for now though.

If you are having trouble on the EJC site, contact CHADO or MYSTERE1, and they will help you out.
As for me, I am new to this site, so I am not speaking on behave of the site, as they may have more ideas for you;
Tow points- both front and rear, mounted either to the frame, or mounted on your bumpers, positioned inside the frame rails. It is recomended that the two points are mounted completelt through your bumper, with full welds on both sides.
Tow straps- full rated from 20,000lbs and up, looped ends, NO Steel ring ended straps. It is recomended to use shackles(also called d-rings or clevis') to attach to your tow points.
Winch- I wouldnt suggest anything smaller than 8000lbs. With a winch, you should have; tree saver, winch saver, snatch block and possibly even an anchor. These are all things that you could make a list of to buy in the future. Roller fairlead with a steel cable, non roller with a syn thetic line.
Cb- very important, and make sure you have a good antenna for longer distances.
Tire- really up to the individual, but mad are suggested.
Skid plates do help, but again, it depends on your budget, it is always stuff to put on your list of things to buy.
As for free time to go offroading--- there is never enough!!
Hope that helps a bit. Cheers, Craig

If you've got that 4.5" lift and tow hooks, front and rear, and your A/T's have good tread you should be ok for Saturday... it's been really dry out there and most of the holes are empty... we can help you through some of the ones that are still muddy, if you need it... as I said on the other thread, just send me in an email...

No, sorry, I meant Tuesday, I keep saying Saturday, but don't tell littletj that lol... TUESDAY, the trail both days is about the same difficulty level... and both are dry. Your Jeep is gonna be brand-spankin new! That's awesome, no better way to Christen it... we won't take you anywhere that you aren't comfortable taking it. It's so dry right now... with 4.5 inches lift that will help, and littletj went out with his.... ahhhemm... WINTER TIRES...... last weekend. We didn't have to pull him once - this run - lol... sorry, i gotta bug him. So you'll be fine, like I said, we can always take a different route if we need.

They ARE winter tires...........and I like to think I didn't get stuck due to superb driving ability.
dk, like she said you'll likely be fine as you'll have lots of ground clearance with that lift, plus there likely won't be much mud anyway.
