Hello
I'm a new and looking forward to attending some events around Mcmurray. I have lived here for almost thirty years, yes a long time. My dream jeep is a silver 2009 Rubicon unlimited 4 door. I have a 4.5” Black Diamond Short Arm Suspension lift. My tires are Mickey Thompson ATZ Baja 35” x 12.5” R17. I do not have a winch at this time, working on getting geared up. My off road experience is minimal and looking forward to learning more.
Hope to meet new people and making new friends.

Welcome to the site, the club does some great runs and does its best to cater to all. I post runs from time to time but most times they are not club runs due to some of my friends are ford nuts. Not my fault tried to change them lol. My name is Shane the wife is Anne Marie feel free to email us with any questions, I run a 94 yj with a few bolt on but seems to work for me. Have fun keep the rubber down

Welcome! Any time is a good time to start doing a little trail riding. I always look forward to winter riding season, hopefully we'll see you on a run.
Let us know if you need help with any mechanical parts or problems. I have learned alot from the guys in the club.

I plan to get the basic recovery gear here within a couple of weeks. Does anybody have any suggestions on the typeof gear to get started? Whats the minimum of gear you allow on the trails? Looking forward for some trail riding.

Must have tow points front and rear on your jeep, none of us want to do any damage to your rig.
If you had a good 30000lb tow strap (sell them at Spruceland/Greggs - not cheap) and some shackles (available through Greggs), you would be set for now, a winch minimum 8000lb with tree saver strap is a good second step (Warn, Titan etc many to choose from). I would also recommend a CB radio (Radioshack - the Source -, WallcottCB in hate US has some good deals) with a good antenna.
In the Winter we would likely let you come on a run as long as you had tow points. Knowing that it is hard to buy everything at once, the winter offers the best chance to come out with the least risk (once the water/muskeg is good and frozen) and see whether it is something you want to get into.

Welcome aboard! Can't wait to meet you and hit the trails. Make sure you get that 30000lb tow strap though... we often come accross Sherman Tanks that need a tow outta the bush around here. Mueller...

heavyg, welcome to the site. The suggestions given are good ones. Looking forward to meeting you.
Also, if you are looking for a winch let me know as I have one, brand new in the box that I had planned on mounting to my XJ before I sold it. It is a no-name brand (Cobra, or something like that) but comes with everything you need except for a fairlead.

Princess auto for straps and shackels cheapest out ther if you go to the city or go online you can buy a 10,000 lb winch for 450 bucks comes with fairlead and mounting bracket from Costco any troubles putting it on drop me a line at my hotmail its on my profile. XJ are famouse for shitty tow points unless you pay for the stock stuff, buy some after market hooks and we can weld them on. You will have a blast with this group they are all good people. Have fun

I'm set up now with my shackles and my 27,000 lbs recovery strap. I found a snatch block at Greggs distributors, with a 24,000 lbs breaking point for 250.00, i'm sure there some other places in town to buy snatch blocks. Can anyone suggest a place?
littletj, I am interested in your winch, hopefully we can chat during wing night, will you be there? I will be mounting the winch on a Rampage Bumper with full front stinger. At the same time I will get the Rampage rear bumper with tire carrier. It will have the rear auxillary lights built into the bumper would be excellent for backing up out of those tight places. This will happen in the first week of january...can't wait!!!! See everyone on wing night.
