Hello all, My name is Corey Kruchkowski. I live in Grande Prairie. It's 1 hour north of the most spectacular wheeling in Alberta - Grande Cache. Years ago the Jeep Jamboree was held there. I've registered on your site to get a feel for where your club is at in terms of the environmental ethics of our sport. Every club is different. My eventual intent is to invite your club to an invite-only, 4x4 club event called A.C.E (Alberta 4x4 Club conference on the Environment), which occurs 7 months from now. It's an awesome time. Hopefully I can invite you guys in 2009 - that would be great. If you've never driven your rig up steep rocks and rock gardens, and then parked it on top of a mountain - you may want to check this event out. If you truly care about the future of wheeling in this province - you NEED to be at this event. The event was covered in the last issue of Can4x4 (Issue 7, 2008) magazine, check it out. We wheel a whole lot, we promote our sport and clean trails, and we rent a steakhouse and have a huge awards dinner at the end with amazing food. I know it's a bit of a drive for you guys - but trust me - you will not be disappointed. Here are some pics (first one shows Greg's Blaze on the left) So - here I am and here is what I do. Give me a feel for what the Ft. Mac Jeep club is all about so I can extend an invitation to this event. BTW, my club's website is here: www.tntgp.comyou can contact me directly at cdkruchk@telusplanet.netcheers

Ok, this is a wheeling weekend in the mountains with great prizes and a big party at the end...
Anybody want to tell me more about the "Jeeps of Fort McMurray" so I can invite you guys to an invite-only event?

Cory, thanks for the consideration. I will tell you what I can, but unfortunately there isn't a whole lot to tell. I suppose the first thing to know is that "Jeeps of McMurray" is not an official club. We have stickers, and there are usually several regulars, myself included that manage to attend most of the arranged runs. All of the beurocracy around creating an official registered "club" pretty much turned us off the idea as most of us just want to work on our jeeps, wheel, and meet up now and then for wings/drinks etc. We have adopted a lot of the ideals and requirements that most clubs have. We have a minimum equipment list, we try to "tread lightly" wherever possible, and we will usually clean up the trails as best we can while we are out. The trails around here are primarily cut lines, logging roads, and old quad trails that have been widened, and "MUD" is the name of the game. High clearance, agressive tires, lockers and a winch are your best friends here. Most of us don't have much in the way of under-belly skids since the terrain is so soft. We have a wide range of jeeps from near stock to highly modified. Mostly Tj's and YJ's with a few XJ's and JK's around. One of our regulars usually drives this beat up old 81 CJ that barely runs. (I am going to get in trouble now for sayin that). That's about it, hopefully that is what you're looking for! Cheers and happy wheeling littletj (Alex)

Well after hearing from "JeepGrrrl" and "LittleTJ" I can see that you have a fairly large group of people and rigs.
The ACE event will be open to anyone from this club that wishes to attend. I call you a club - because if you have rules, stickers, and a name - guess what - you are a club.
Stay posted for my invitation. Will be coming, with details, within a few weeks. The event is the 6-8 of August.

Hey Corey, I hope a few of us can make the trip West. I have been around Grand Cache for work as a surveyor and love the terrain and views. Little TJ is the guy for pok'n fun, but the scrambler runs 40's, a chev tbi and dana 60's, usually the tow truck as required. We have an extensive list of does and dont's, and yes the trail trash gets picked up by J of M. Some guys show with rough rigs and are left at the meet point, the presents we have on the trail is kept positive. Thanks again for the invite.
